The vision mineral
Albion® Zinc — the mineral in the powder.
Daily Vision’s fourth active is a mineral, not a botanical. Zinc helps carry vitamin A to the retina and supports normal vision. It sits in the inner capsule with MaquiBright®, as Albion® zinc bisglycinate chelate: 5.5 mg of zinc, half the Daily Value.
Albion® Minerals · Balchem, Clearfield, Utah, USA · zinc bisglycinate chelate
Albion® Minerals · Balchem · zinc bisglycinate chelate
Zinc bound to glycine, so it travels as one piece.
In a bisglycinate chelate, each zinc atom is held between two molecules of glycine, the smallest amino acid. Albion® Minerals, now part of Balchem, has made chelated minerals since 1956. We use it at a nutrient amount, 5.5 mg, and we don’t claim more for it than that.
What it does in the eye
- Supports normal visionZinc is one of the minerals the eye relies on day to day.
- Helps carry vitamin A to the retinaZinc helps bring vitamin A from the liver to the retina, where the eye puts it to work.
- A nutrient amount, stated plainlyHalf the Daily Value, not a megadose. The number on the label is the number you get.
There is no eye trial of this ingredient at 5.5 mg, so this page has no study card. The well-known AREDS eye studies used 80 mg of zinc and asked a different question; we don’t borrow their results. Zinc is here as a nutrient, at half the Daily Value.
