How to take

One capsule daily with a meal that contains some fat — lutein, zeaxanthin and astaxanthin are fat-soluble and absorb better alongside it.

Same time each day. Tear-film measures moved within four weeks in the maqui trial; macular carotenoids build over months, so give it a full quarter.

If you’re pregnant, nursing, taking medication or managing an eye condition, check with your clinician first.

The science

The three botanical actives are branded ingredients with published human trials: MaquiBright® at 60 mg in adults on screens four or more hours a day, AstaReal® at 4 mg for digital eye strain, and XanMax® at twice the AREDS2 carotenoid amounts. Zinc is there as a nutrient: 5.5 mg, half the Daily Value, as Albion® zinc bisglycinate chelate.

These are studies of the ingredients, not of this finished product. The chapters below show what each trial measured, in whom, and when.

Drag through a screen day.

A long day of screens, the way it plays out for your eyes — and the strain the actives were studied against.

Fresh eyes.

First light, first tab. The eye was built for reflected light — pages, faces, landscapes that scatter it softly. Contrast is crisp and focus is effortless.

Sound familiar?

  • Dry, gritty eyes by mid-afternoon
  • Words that blur until you lean in
  • A dull ache behind the eyes
  • Screens too harsh once the lights are low

That screen day? It’s my husband’s.

That was a hypothetical. This one is real — my husband’s Screen Time, updated every week.

Trial figures are from published studies of the named branded ingredients at the doses shown — studies of the ingredients, not of this finished product. The zinc figure is its share of the Daily Value.

One capsule. Two chambers.

Outer capsule · liquid

The carotenoids, as an oil

Lutein, zeaxanthin and astaxanthin are fat-soluble, so they travel the way they are made: XanMax® marigold extract and AstaReal® oleoresin in olive oil, sealed in the outer capsule.

Inner capsule · powder

MaquiBright® and zinc — kept dry

The maqui berry extract and Albion® zinc sit in their own sealed capsule inside, away from the oil until you take it.

  • Ongoing support

Supports your eyes’ natural light filter

XanMax® provides lutein and zeaxanthin—nutrients that collect in the part of your eye responsible for sharp, central vision and help filter some blue light.

Asked, answered.

What is a capsule-in-capsule?

A liquid-filled outer capsule with a separate, smaller powder-filled capsule sealed inside. XanMax® and AstaReal® travel as an oil in the outer capsule; MaquiBright® and Albion® zinc sit in the inner one as a powder. Every capsule carries both fills, so each active travels in the form that suits it.

Does any of this actually help with screen time?

The one placebo-controlled trial run in people like you — adults on screens four or more hours a day — is MaquiBright®’s: at our exact 60 mg, participants produced measurably more tear fluid than placebo after four weeks. Lutein and zeaxanthin are the pigments the macula uses to filter blue light; astaxanthin’s 4 mg trial (run in children aged 10–14) found lower digital eye-strain scores. Zinc helps carry vitamin A to the retina and supports normal vision. The trials are studies of the branded ingredients, not of this product.

How long before I’d notice anything?

In the ingredient trials, tear-film measures moved by weeks two and four, and eye-strain scores were taken at three months; the macular carotenoids build over months. This is a routine, not a quick fix — give it a full quarter. Whether you feel a difference is yours to judge; some people do, some don’t.

When should I take it, and is it safe with medication?

One capsule daily with a meal that contains some fat — lutein, zeaxanthin and astaxanthin are all fat-soluble and absorb better alongside it. If you’re pregnant, nursing, taking medication or managing an eye condition, check with your clinician first.
